Local play returns

The play, aptly titled Law & Disorder, makes a comeback to Harrisburg from April 28th to April 30th. It will be held at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, and doors open at 6 p.m. Click here for ticket info. The main actors include Hakim Zahir, Angelo Muhammad, Johntrae Williams and Leia “Lei Row” Rowland.

We holla at actors Williams and Rowland to get more details about Law & Disorder. Williams also wrote and produced the play along with Monika Ross. And when Rowland is not prepping for the play, she’s singing on the local level.

vigoronline.com:What’s the play about?
Williams: This clever production of Law & Disorder is a multimedia stage play that fuses film, song, a live band and amazing acting into one spectacular show. This play is designed not only to entertain, but also to educate and bring awareness to the HIV/AIDS epidemic …

What can the audience look forward to?
Williams: Viewers can look forward to a strong plot that will keep your interest from beginning to end. Be amazed by the homegrown talent that truly steps up to the plate to meet the standards of a Broadway production … The production has no choice but to be a success.

How did you land a leading role in the play?
Rowland: I landed the leading role by attending the tryouts. I saw the event info on Facebook and said to a friend, ‘you know what, I haven’t acted in a long time, but Imma give it a shot.’ And then to my surprise, I landed a lead role in the production. So exciting.

What new music projects are you working on?
Rowland: I am working on new music and brainstorming many new ideas for a new CD. I want to make sure my next project is all the way right for ya’ll. But you know I’ll keep you posted.
