Rap newcomers 2 Chainz and Future, both from Atlanta, sport dreadlocks with pride. And songstress Solange Knowles is a spokesmodel for a natural hair product company. It’s cool that we’re embracing natural hair, but we must also know how to treat it. That’s where Jaha Hair Studio comes in.

The Maryland-based hair studio will hold “Nurturing the Natural You: A Premiere Natural Hair Event. The will event run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 5 at Silver Spring Civic Building in Maryland. “Nurturing the Natural You” will offer live demonstrations, educational seminars, networking and product information.

“There are so many shops and … groups out there promoting natural hair products, but customers often have no indication about the products’ ingredients and if they meet their hair needs,” said Susan Peterkin-Bishop, Jaha Hair Studio proprietor.

Some of the topics that Peterkin-Bishop and her speakers will address include tips for going from the pool or gym to a party without compromising your hairstyle. Attendees will get product samples, refreshments and can enter in giveaways. To register and get more info, click here.
