Lorraine Hansberry: Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart makes [it] abundantly clear that there is so much more to know” about Hansberry than A Raisin in the Sun, the flyer reads.

The flyer promotes the new documentary from producer/director/writer Tracy Heather Strain, a native of Harrisburg, Pa. On April 17, Strain and WITF held a special screening for the doc in Strain’s hometown.

Aside from being the playwright for the legendary play, Hansberry was an activist, rebel, visionary and lesbian. The doc features interviews with cast members from A Raisin in the Sun, and it’s narrated by actress Anika Noni Rose. Ten years ago, director Kenny Leon released his film based on Hansberry’s award-winning 1959 play. Phylicia Rashad and Diddy were some of the actors in the 2008 film.

Like Strain, Lauren Lazin is also a director/producer from Central Pa. Lazin received an Academy Award nomination for the feature film Tupac: Resurrection. Strain, who currently resides in Boston, also worked on the I’ll Make Me a World doc.
