While Meek Mill waits to see if a 2008 gun conviction will be tossed out, a new judge (Judge Leon Tucker) presided over a brief hearing on Aug. 6. Tucker replaces Judge Genece Brinkley. Also on Aug. 6, Meek made an appearance during the Free Meek Gathering held at the Juanita Kidd Stout Center for Criminal Justice in Philadelphia. The hearing will resume Aug. 27.
On Aug. 9, Amazon Prime Video released the Free Meek docuseries.
I missed Meek’s appearance on Aug. 6, but I was able to observe a chief legal officer give legal advice to a client. Monique Haughton Worrell, the chief legal officer seen on the far left in the photo above, works for Reform Alliance.
Reform strives to reduce the number of people who are unjustly under the control of the criminal justice system. Meek, Jay-Z and Van Jones are some of Reform’s founding partners.
