What a difference four years make.
When I first covered Post Malone on February 13, 2016, he opened up for Fetty Wap at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College. Fast forward four years later, and the Texas-based artist headlined his own tour on Feb. 22 at Hershey’s Giant Center. While on tour, a rap artist may wear a sports shirt to show love to a city. Covered in tats, Mr. White Iverson rocked an Allen Iverson T-shirt, giving props to the legendary player from the Philadelphia 76ers.
During the concert, Malone performed “Hollywood’s Bleeding” among other songs.
“For this next song, I really wanted to make a celebration of life,” the artist said. “You know, and live every moment while you can because you never know when it’s gonna be your last. It’s called ‘Saint-Tropez.’”
Like Malone, the opening acts were rapper-singers who concoct melodic music. Swae Lee’s set included “Sativa” and “Swang.” Tyla Yaweh performed “Salute” and “Who Shot Johnny,” to name a few songs.
This was the last concert I covered before the pandemic forced a shutdown on the entertainment industry. Visit my Instagram page to see more photos from the Malone concert.
