Modu’s legacy lives on

The late Chi Modu is one of my favorite photographers.

To celebrate his birthday on July 7, I posted some images from his exhibit two years ago. Modu graduated from The Lawrenceville School, N.J., in 1984, so the school held the exhibit. Modu would’ve been 60.

Before his passing, I was fortunate to have a brief conversation about his photography via Instagram. Modu took photos for The Source magazine. He’s known mostly for his iconic images of Tupac, Biggie, Mobb Deep and others. The exhibit in N.J. also showed Modu’s street photos that he took overseas.

According to the National Hip-Hop Museum, a Modu exhibit will be coming soon.
