‘Bun B for President’ by J. Cole


I’ll admit it—I was late realizing Bun B’s lyrical skills. I first heard Bun spit with his Southern drawl on 2000’s “Big Pimpin’” by Jay-Z featuring UGK. UGK consisted of Bun and his late partner Pimp C. Little did I know that Bun’s career dates back to 1987.

Mike Posner’s “Cooler Than Me” has been climbing the charts, and it’s currently in the top 10. The singer from Duke University (sidenote: I’m a Duke basketball fan) drops his debut LP 31 Minutes to Takeoff on Aug. 10. Download and enjoy “Please Don’t Go” in the meantime.
