On Feb. 27, 2005, vigoronline.com covered neo-soul singer/songwriter Eric Roberson in concert in Philadelphia. Harrisburg resident Erica Pickney told us that she also saw Roberson during a Philly concert. However, on Sept. 12, local neo-soul fans witnessed the singer without having to hop on I-76. Roberson’s concert was part of Dauphin County’s 3rd Annual Jazz Festival at Harrisburg’s Fort Hunter Park. Dauphin County also brought neo-soul duet Kindred to Harrisburg on Aug. 7. Blueprint in blue and white country

Yes—tickets are still on sale for the Jay-Z concert. The sale began at noon on Sept. 11. Jigga will perform songs from the Blueprint 3 album, as well as his other gems, at Penn State University on Oct. 9. The hip-hop icon moved up the release date from Sept. 11 to Sept. 8 for Blueprint 3. The show begins at 8 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center at University Park. Click here for tickets.

New Jersey-based singer Eric Roberson headlines the 3rd Annual Jazz Festival at Fort Hunter. The national recording artist has a velvety singing voice, and he meshes it with superb songwriting and an organic neo-soul sound. Not surprisingly, Roberson has done collabos with Philly artists Jill Scott and Musiq. Showtime: 7:30 p.m.

VH1’s Behind the Music returns on Sept. 10. So what artist did they choose for the first episode? None other than Lil Wayne. Weezy has the music industry on lock with his recording-breaking album sales from 2008 and the current hype from Young Money Entertainment all-star Drake. Behind the Music airs from 10-11 p.m. And be sure to see Young Money’s Nicki Minaj perform at The Forum on Sept. 7. See below for more info on Minaj and other local/national events for this month. Local company Triple R Entertainment held a local artist showcase called Shadyville on July 5 at the posh nightclub Privado in Harrisburg. Celebrity DJs Akio and E Stacks were on the wheels of steel. Harrisburg area singers Sincere, Alonda Rich and Tim Cox didn’t disappoint with their performances. Hip-hop wordsmith Eskimo Jones even gave a surprise performance by accompanying Sincere on stage for the song “My Diva.” See below for upcoming events in September.

Nothing beats a free concert during the recession—especially if Kindred the Family Soul headlines it.

Philadelphia–based Kindred, who inked a deal Hidden Beach Recordings, is labelmates with neo-soul queen Jill Scott  (who also hails from Philly). The married duet, consisting of Aja Graydon and Fatin  Dantzler, are known as the modern-day Ashford & Simpson.  Kindred has received nominations for a Soul Train Music Award and BET Award and appeared on VH1 Soul’s Soul Cities TV show. Jeezy preps for new album

Young Jeezy takes time out from working on his new album, Thug Motivation 103, to open up for the Lil Wayne concert in Scranton on July 27. Jeezy, who graces the cover of XXL magazine’s September 2009 issue,  shares the same management company (Hip Hop Since 1978) with Wayne.

Last year, Lil Wayne resuscitated the weakening record industry with projects, such as The Carter III album. On July 27, he ruled the stage at The Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival.
