That’s the new release date for Drake’s highly anticipated Thank Me Later album, Drake said at his April 9 concert at  Bryce Jordan Center in State College. His collaborator, Jay-Z, performed at BJC on Oct. 9, 2009. Initially, Thank Me Later was slated for release on February 14 but was pushed back to May 25. Continue reading ‘Leader of the new school’

Siano

Harrisburg-based crooner Siano performs earlier this year at Shane’s City Limits in Hummelstown. Siano and his former group Charm Sitty opened up for Jaguar Wright in November 2008 in Grantville. Charm Sitty consisted of singers Siano, Sincere and Lucky.

Rihanna in Hershey and NJ


Tickets for Rihanna’s local concerts go on sale today at 10 a.m. Ri Ri will perform at Susquehanna Bank Center (NJ) on Aug. 18 and Hersheypark Stadium (Hershey) on Aug. 21. Rihanna has put the Chris Brown debacle in the past and is currently dating LA Dodger’s outfielder Matt Kemp. Pop singer/songwriter Ke$ha will open up for Rihanna. Concert promoter Live Nation also booked femcee Nicki Minaj for the tour, but Minaj pulled out recently, according to her Twitter account. Click here to buy the tickets.

Nobody beats the Wiz

The 1979 film, The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh, tells the story of a struggling pro basketball team. Pittsburgh-based rhyme spitter Wiz Khalifa didn’t rescue the city, but he definitely put them on the hip-hop map. Continue reading ‘Nobody beats the Wiz’

Badu charged for video

 This past Friday wasn’t so good for Erykah Badu.

On Good Friday, (April 5), the Dallas Police department charged Badu for disorderly conduct for her new video.  The po-po also fined her $500. Since 1997, Badu has been changing the game with her left-of-center music. If you haven’t seen her new video for her single “Window Seat,” you gotta check it out. Inspired by Matt and Kim, the singer continues to push the artistic envelope by disrobing in public.
