Wiz Khalifa dropped one of the best mixtapes last year. And 2011 seems to be a banner year also for the Pittsburgh-based rhyme spitter. Khalifa will open up for tomorrow’s AFC championship game at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field. He’ll perform the anthem “Black and Yellow” before his hometown team, the Steelers, play the New York Jets.
Jay-Z and Alicia Keys also appeared at a sports event when they performed their anthem “Empire State of Mind” during the New York Yankees game in 2009. “I’ve always had that Pittsburgh pride,” Khalifa said on his website. “I just wanted to let people know where I’m from … I took that hometown pride and put it in a song.”
