Local femcee Tasha Karelle moved from Harrisburg to Atlanta recently. But before she left, she showed her former residence some love in her new video for “I Betcha.” The 23-year-old rapper incorporated Harrisburg-based landmark Strawberry Square in the video, directed by Kayso The Director.
How long have you been rapping?
I’ve been writing lyrics since I was 12 years old, but I wasn’t aware it was what I wanted as a career until two years ago. I had to write a paper in my English college course. I decided to write about hip-hop music and how it has evolved throughout the years. After we wrote the paper, we had to present it to the class, and I chose to convert my paper into rap lyrics and perform. Standing up there in front of everyone and seeing that my words of passion had their complete attention was the best feeling in the world. After that day, I knew writing and performing thoughts, feelings and words was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Who are your favorite rappers?
Eminem, Tupac, Eve, Drake and Future.
When will you drop your In My Feelins EP?
I honestly can’t give an exact date on when I will be dropping my new EP, In my Feelins, but I’m definitely working on it.
