In 2003, the Harrisburg area held an indoor rap concert with A-list acts. Rap heavyweights, such as such as 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes, performed at that show, which was held at Hershey’s Giant Center. Now Harrisburg will host its first outdoor rap festival with celebrity rappers.
Camp Shine Music Festival will be held on Sunday, Aug. 20. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at City Island.
The top three acts include G Herbo, Famous Dex and Uno the Activist. XXL magazine selected Chicago-based rapper Herbo as one of the 2016 freshman, a title given to rising stars. On March 17, Herbo released the mixtape Welcome to Fazoland 1.5. Famous Dex also hails from Chicago and collaborates with rapper Rich the Kid. Dex has been riding the wave from songs such as “Drip from My Walk.” Atlanta’s Uno the Activist is cousin of Playboi Carti, an XXL freshman from the 2017 class. On Sept. 4, 2016, Uno performed in the Made in America fest in Philadelphia.
Other rappers on the Camp Shine roster are: Warhol.SS, Thouxanbanfauni, J Stash, Lil Tracy, Lucki, Global Dan, Chxpo, Lil House Phone, Michah61o, Zillakami, Mars 90s, Cam Girl, Lilo Key, Wayne Christopher, Mr. Fantastic, Mazon, Pedro Pesos, Rog Lau, Thelonious, Summoned Souls, CokeStacy, Cameronazi, Rawston George, LRDRA, Yung Faucet, Yung Pree, Skool Da Goon, Nicky the Jet, LCG, Shay Geez, Naku and CB.
