The entertainment came to the hood—the hood didn’t have to go to the entertainment. The Weekender, based in Harrisburg’s Hall Manor and Reservoir Park, offered something for kids and adults.
The three-day event inluded Harrisburg Housing Authority Community Day on Aug. 17, DJ Diamond Kuts on Aug. 18, and national recording artist Bobby Valentino (or Bobby V as he’s known today) on Aug. 19.
At Reservoir Park, Valentino took fans down memory lane with 2008’s hit “Mrs. Officer.” A light drizzle fell during that performance. He sang “Blackberry Molasses” acapella and tickled the keyboard’s ivories for some performances. “Pimpin’ All Over the World” and “Slow Down” were some other songs performed.
Valentino’s rendition of H-Town’s “Knockin’ da Boots” was spot on. H-Town’s single wasn’t the only ’90s song he sang by another artist. Valentino also performed Mokenstef’s “He’s Mine.” Before he left the stage, he gave a plug for his new album Electrik.
