Fabolous, Trey Songz in Harrisburg

Most recently, they’ve done the collabo for “Say Aah.” Now Fabolous and Trey Songz will grace the stage at Harrisburg’s Farm Show on Dec. 20. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $45 for general admission, $75 for floor seats and $100 for front-row seats. Rakim concert rescheduled

Rakim rescheduled his Nov. 14 concert at the Dragonfly in Harrisburg. Dragonfly owner Judd Goodman told vigoronline.com that Rakim’s bus broke down. To compensate for Dragonfly’s change of plans, people who bought advance tickets entered the venue for free last night and watched the opening acts perform. Dragonfly will also honor those tickets when Rakim makes a second attempt on Dec. 19. Call Dragonfly at 717.232.6940 for more info.

Upcoming events


Undaunted by his recent split with Warner Bros. Records, Wiz Khalifa will drop his album Deal or No Deal on Nov. 24. Three days later, he’ll rock the house in Harrisburg, which is next door his hometown of Pittsburgh. Held by local promoters Big Shotz Entertainment, the concert takes place at the Gemini Entertainment Center on Cameron St. College junior William Steele and college senior Chima Soribe formed Big Shotz in summer 2009. The legendary rapper Rakim Allah will rock the mic at Dragonfly in Harrisburg on Nov. 14. Rhymefest (co-writer of Ye’s “Jesus Walks”), windchiLL, J. Bair, M.I.H. and others will open up for the celebrity wordsmith. With gems, such as “Paid In Full,” “I Ain’t No Joke” and “Know the Ledge,” Rakim raised the bar for lyricism while schooling the youth with his 5 Percent Nation teachings. Talking blues
Jay-Z says he bleeds blue on “Empire State of Mind,” referring to his penchant for the New York Yankees and NYC. On Oct. 9, Hova’s fans bled blue for another team: the Nittany Lions.  Hip-hop icon Jay-Z kicked off his Blueprint 3 tour in front of a sold-out crowd in State College. Rappin’ royalty visits school

Queen Latifah returned to Central Pa. on Oct.14—but she didn’t perform this time. The renowned rapper-turned singer visited Milton Hershey School, which is celebrating its 100th year. Milton Hershey School’s spokesperson told The Patriot-News that Latifah was interested in the home/school’s legacy. The school serves underprivileged students. During Latifah’s visit in Hershey, she spoke with students and signed autographs.

On Oct. 29, 2007, the celebrity performed at The Forum in Harrisburg to promote her Trav’lin’ Light jazz CD. Aside from spittin’ bars and singing, she acts and models. American Idol winner Jordin Sparks will also be part of Milton Hershey School’s centennial. On Nov. 12, Sparks will hold a private concert for the school’s students at Hershey’s Giant Center.

DJ Hero hits stores Oct. 27, the same day the BET Hip Hop Awards 2009 is aired. DJ Hero is available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation consoles and the Wii.

Oct 2
: Lancaster County-based rapper Stainless Steele, a longtime collaborator with DJ Image, holds a release party for his mixtape, My Top Friends Are Beat Makers. The event takes place at The Shoppe Revival in Lancaster. Graphic designer Andy Musser displays his artwork during the event. The party runs from 6 p.m. to midnight.
