Kayne protégé delivers

Big Sean is finally famous. Photo by Leon Laing.

Big Sean represents the new generation of hip-hop: His career catapulted with the help of rap blogs. And during his concert on Oct. 11 at Lancaster’s Chameleon Club, he took pics of the energetic audience and uploaded them immediately on his Twitter page.

Sean said he wants naysayers to realize his talents, as well as skills from his new-school colleagues such as Mac Miller and labelmates Kid Cudi and Cyhi Da Prince.

Sean, who rocked black jeans, black shelltoe Adidas with white stripes and adjustable baseball cap (of course), is part of Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music label. Common and Pusha T are some of the other G.O.O.D. Music artists.

Aside from catering to the 106 & Park demographic, Sean performed for the ladies during his concert. (Sean also performed on the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards, which aired the same night of Sean’s show in Lancaster).

The Detriot-based artist gyrated and humped the air throughout songs such as “My Last” and “Marvin & Chardonnay.” The women went bananas. During another set, Sean walked onto the stage wearing a smoker’s robe while Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” blasted from the speakers.

Opening act Cyhi Da Prince spat memorable verses from his 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher and “So Appalled.” Atlanta-based Cyhi told our website that he’ll be dropping an album sometime in 2012. Newcomer Shawn Chrystopher kicked the concert off with a lively set replete with songs including “Need More Bass.” The rapper/producer hails from California.
